A Sports Turf Faciltiy
 |
Pacesetter Park is a sports turf facility located just west of downtown Sylvania. The voters of Sylvania passed a .85 mil levy in 1988 to form the Sylvania Area Joint Recreation District (SAJRD). The original Pacesetter property, encompassed sixty nine acres that was originally purchased by a Sylvania resident. In 1994 SAJRD made strides towards developing a top notch recreation opportunity, by forming the Sylvania Recreation Corporation(SRC). Since it's inception, Pacesetter Park has evolved into one of the top sports turf facilities in the United States. The Original sixty nine acres was fully developed with eight fenced/lighted ball diamonds, and three game only areas that are utilized for twenty nine soccer fields, three lacrosse fields, and two flag football fields.
The Recreation District recognized the need for additional land for development, and in 1996, purchased a thirty eight acre parcel adjacent to the park. In addition, in 1999 the District signed a lease with the option to buy an additional twenty six acres to bring the total park acreage to one hundred and thirty three acres. Acquisition of the additional land was necessary for adding another entrance to the park.
Pacesetter Park now offers one of the nicest playgrounds in Northwest Ohio. The playground is A.D.A. accessible and features two play areas for different aged children. The playground is open for use, unless the weather is under 60 degrees.
